Willow Bend English Muffin Company started out as a curiosity, an online search for something unrelated when I came across a recipe for English muffins. As a hobbyist bread baker for decades, this caught my attention. I began to tweak the recipe, conversing with my bread book library and countless YouTube videos, both amateur and professional bakers. What started as a home challenge, at first maybe a dozen English muffins here, two dozen there, quickly progressed into making batches of four dozen muffins at a time. Our kitchen soon became overwhelmed. Thankfully we received permission to bake in the wonderful commercial kitchen at St. Stephen’s Anglican Church, in my hometown of Sewickley, Pennsylvania where we would be able to experiment with our recipe. As we baked, community members would stop in, attracted by the delightful aroma and ask what we were doing. And so began our email list, which has now grown to over 700 names. I did not set out to start a baking business, but with the enthusiasm of our friends and the community that is what we have become.
